A Highland Council-owned building on Lochinver main street, the former mental health drop-in building, had been proposed to be developed by HC as housing, however that was found to be impractical due to flood risk requirements for a change of use to housing.  As such, the currently unused building could be available for some other use.

Among possible uses, interest in it has been expressed by the informal group progressing plans for a community work shed space where people could meet and socialise while working on DIY projects, crafts etc.

The board of ADT were aware that some others locally may be interested in acquiring use of the space for retail / commercial or other enterprise. As such, an online survey was run to seek to gauge local views on use of the building, including from people who would themselves be interested in using it.
